TEAMS/REPORTS

September 6th   Hingham     4    Hethersett     2

This was the first game of the season for a youthful Hethersett side and was a good test against a team that were relegated from Division 3 last season. Hingham built a 4-0 lead as the young Hethersett team adapted to the strength and pace of adult football but Hethersett hit back with two goals from Dominic Doggett.

TEAM - Ross Eyeington, Freddie Raven, Louis Witham, Chris Thirtle, Tom Bird, Luke Giles, Jack Raven, Craig Burrows, Tom Vosper, Dominic Doggett, Sam Brooks, Andy Smith, Nick Benfield, Ollie Whitmore.

September 13th       AFC Mousehold       2      Hethersett     3

Hethersett made it through to the second round of the Norfolk Junior Sunday Cup with an odd goal of five victory over Mousehold.

TEAM - Ross Eyeington, Freddie Raven, Danny Holman, Johnny Martin, Chris Thirtle, James Rice, Jack Raven, Luke Giles, Dominic Doggett, Craig Burrows, Tom Vosper, Tom Bird, James Wright

September 20th                Hethersett       2       Salhouse Res       4

Hethersett suffered a setback when goalkeeper Eyeington was injured and Grant Worthington went in goal. Salhouse were 3-0 up at half-time and added a fourth in the second half. Hethersett's never say die attitude paid off as Dominic Doggett scored twice in the second half.

TEAM - Ross Eyeington, Freddie Raven, Tom Bird, Craig Burrows, Will Cook, Chris Thirtle, Jack Raven, Andy Smith, Luke Giles, Dominic Doggett, Nick Benfield, Sam Brooks, Tom Vosper, Grant Worthington

November  1st               Earlham      1     Hethersett    2

Hethersett played good passing football in the first half and created five good chances in the wind and rain but were able to convert only one of them. Earlham equalised before the break and put tremendous pressure on in the second half. Hethersett had to defend but broke away to score the winner through Grant Worthington in the dying seconds.

TEAM: Harley Hammill, Freddie Raven, Liam Buffin, Tom Bird, Craig Burrows, Mick Benfield, Matt Molloy, Tom Vosper, Dominic Doggett, Grant Worthington, Jamie Wright, Luke Giles

November 8th          Hethersett     2     Spixworth    2

A slow start saw Hethersett a goal down before Dominic Doggett set up Andy Smith for the equaliser. Hethersett took the lead in the second half through Doggett but Spixworth stepped up the pressure. A good save from Harley Hammil and stout defending kept Spixworth at bay until they scored late on from a corner. Nevertheless it was a fair result.

TEAM Harley Hammil, Freddie Raven, Tom Bird, Craig Burrows, Chris Thirtle, Jamie Wright, Andy Smith, Ollie Whitmore, Lewis Holland, Luke Giles, Dominic Doggett, Tom Vosper, Nick Benfield.

November 15th         AFC Oak      1     Hethersett   0

TEAM: Harley Hammil, Freddie Raven, Liam Buffin, Craig Burrows, Tom Bird, Jamie Wright, Andy Smith, Lewis Holland, Dominic Doggett, Grant Worthington, Tom Vosper, Nick Benfield, Matt Parkhouse.

November 22nd       Hethersett     3    Wendene    3

November 29th      Maid Marion     2     Hethersett    2

Hethersett began the game with just 11 players with striker Robbie Lincoln in goal. Maid Marion took the lead but a fine goal from Dominic Doggett lifted the Hethersett spirit. Hethersett then played some of their best football of the season and carved out a number of chances before Doggett gave them the lead. Hethersett went close on a number of occasions only to see Maid Marion equalise in injury time.

TEAM - Robbie Lincoln, Freddie Raven, Matt Parkhouse, Craig Burrows, Tom Bird, Jamie Wright, Tom Vosper, Luke Giles, Dominic Doggett, Grant Worthington, Nathan Cooper.

December 13th       Hethersett      0   Earlham      4

Hethersett found putting moves together difficult against a strong Earlham side who closed them down from the start.. Despite this Hethersett still made chances and the game could have been different had they have been taken. Earlham scored from the majority of their chances.

TEAM - Robbie Lincoln, Freddie Raven, Matt Parkhouse, Craig Burows, Tom Bird, Lewis Holland, Luke Giles, Tom Vosper, Grant Worthington, Dominic Doggett, Nathan Cooper, Nick Benfield, Jamie Wright.

January 24th       Freethorpe       3    Hethersett    0

Despite the result this was an exceptional performance from Hethersett who only had 10 players in a team which included manager Steve Raven. They matched the opposition for much of the game and created a number of chances.

TEAM - Ollie Whitmore, Freddie Raven, Adam Buffin, Steve Raven, Tom Bird, Jamie Wright, Luke Giles, Tom Vosper, Dominic Doggett, Grant Worthington

February 7th       Spixworth Res      0    Hethersett     4

This was a good all round team performance with Hethersett playing good passing football to outplay a Spixworth side who also played some good football. Hethersett created more chances than their opponents and took a number of them.

TEAM - James Youngs, Freddie Raven, Adam Buffin, Chris Thirtle, Tom Bird, Nick Benfield, Luke Giles, Tom Vosper, Dominic Doggett, Robbie Lincoln, Tamas Dalmay, Ollie Whitmore.

February 14th             Hethersett     2    AFC Oak    2

Despite having much of the play, Hethersett found themselves 2-0 down after 20 minutes. The pitch conditions started firm but then deteriorated into a slippery surface. Two moments of sheer determination and inspiration from leading scorer Dom Doggett ensured Hethersett were able to share the points.

TEAM - Harley Hammill, Freddie Raven, Adam Buffin, Chris Thirtle, Tom Bird, Nick Benfield, Luke Giles, Tom Vosper, Dominic Doggett, Grant Worthington, Tamas Dalmay, Nathan Cooper, Matt Parkhouse.

March 7th                      Hethersett      1    Hingham    3

Two key decisions went against Hethersett in an otherwise finely balanced game. A drop of morale led Hingham to take all three points.

TEAM - Harley Hammil, Freddie Raven, Adam Buffin, Johnny Martin, Tom Bird, Liam Buffin, Luke Giles, Tom Vosper, Dominic Doggett, Robbie Lincoln, Nathan Cooper, Freddie Shepherd, Nick Benfield

March 14th                       Constitution        7     Hethersett   2

A patched up Hethersett team put in a good performance for 75 minutes. Hethersett had strong appeals for a penalty tuned down and Constitution broke away to score. This demoralised Hethersett and they conceded four goals in the last 10 minutes.

TEAM - James Youngs, Tom Bird, Freddie Raven, Luke Giles, Nathan Cooper, Tom Vosper, Craig Burroughs, Chris Thirtle, Nick Benfield, Freddie Shepherd, Dominic Doggett, Liam Buffin

March 21st                  Salhouse Res      2        Hethersett     3

Hethersett seemed to be cruising with 15 minutes to go thanks to goals from Doggatt, Martin and Sheppard. They could have had even more with better finishing. Salhouse scored late on and then added a second to make a nailbiting finish.

TEAM - James Youngs, Freddie Raven, Liam Buffin, Tom Bird, Jonny Martin, Chris Thirtle, Jack Raven, Craig Burrows, Robbie Lincoln, Dominic Doggett, Freddie Sheppard, Nick Benfield, Jamie Wright

March 28th             Wendene       2     Hethersett     7

Goals from Robbie Lincoln (2), Grant Worthington (2) and Freddie Shepherd in the first half set Hethersett on the road to victory. A tenacious Wendene performance after the break saw the second half end even. After a number of missed opportunities, Dominic Doggett added a sixth and Nick Benfield made it seven.

TEAM - James Youngs, Freddie Raven, Liam Buffin, Tom Bird, Jonny Martin, Tom Vosper, Craig Burrows, Grant Worthington, Freddie Shepherd, Robbie Lincoln, Dominic Doggett, Nick Benfield, Nathan Cooper.

April 4th                  Hethersett    0     Maid Marion   7

After two encouraging performances (and wins) and, despite the loss of key players to Easter holidays, Hethersett started well and were the better team for 20 minutes. Heads dropped once Maid Marion scored their second goal from a penalty and nothing went right for Hethersett after that.

TEAM - James Youngs, Freddie Raven, Liam Buffin, Jonny Martin, Tom Bird, Chris Thirtle, Jack Raven, Craig Burrows, Grant Worthington, Nathan Cooper, Nick Benfield, Matt Parkhouse.

April 11th           Hethersett    0     Heartsease       2

This was an excellent performance from Hethersett on a day when a bit of luck would have seen them beat the league champions. Hethersett created numerous chances and got stronger as the game progressed. Matt Parkhouse stood in as keeper and saved a penalty.

TEAM - Matt Parkhouse, Freddie Raven, Nathan Cooper, Craig Burrows, Tom Bird, Chris Thirtle, Jack Raven, Tom Vosper, Grant Worthington, Dominic Doggett, Sam Brooks
