Teams/Reports September 6th - Costessey 2 Hethersett 2 A well contested game played in good spirit. Hethersett led 2-1 at half time. An injury time equaliser from Costessey secured a draw. Hethersett's second goal was an outstanding volley from 25 yards scored by Tom Read. September 13th - Hethersett 3 Mulbarton 2 This local derby was played in great spirit . Hethersett created several good chances early on but could not convert. Two defensive errors either side of half time gave Mulbarton a 2-0 lead before Max Bishop reduced the arrears with a low shot. Robert Warminger equalised with a cross/shot goal followed by a superb save by Matthew Butcher in the Hethersett goal. In the closing moments Robert Warminger secured the win for Hethersett with a well timed run and composed finish. Strikers Robert Warminger and Tom Wyatt gave Hethersett a 4-1 half time lead. Walker, Warminger and Wyatt increased the visitors advantage after the break with 2 further goals from Horsford. 6 minutes from time Hethersett's keeper Matthew Butcher reverted to left midfield and scored 2 good goals to cap another fine keeper/goal scoring performance. Just before full time Rob Warminger completed his hat trick but was dissapointed that he had not converted other chances! This was a superb Hethersett performance with James Lemmon, Josh Denny, Max Bishop, Mcaully Ryan, Harrison Silvester, Ethan Poole and Jacob Frazer playing very well. Jake Frazer September 27th Hethersett 3 Scole 5 Hethersett and Scole met in this top of the table clash with a hard fought encounter. The visitors struck the post early on and shortly afterwards scored twice. Hethersett's Warminger pulled a goal back just before the break, but Scole regained their 2 goal advantage after half time. Hethersett dug in again and spectacular strikes from Robert Warminger and Jack Walker levelled the score with 10 minutes remaining. Scole regained the lead with a scrambled goal and converted a last minute penalty. Hethersett took the lead midway through the first half when Mehtab released Warminger on the right. His cross was converted by Butcher leaving the visitors 1-0 ahead at the break. 2 further goals from Warminger after the break gave Hethersett the victory. The Salhouse keeper made several fine saves and credit also goes to Max Bishop and the Hethersett defence for keeping a clean sheet. TEAM:

October 11th Mulbarton 1 Hethersett 8 This local derby cup tie drew good support from both teams. Hethersett began brightly with Robert Warminger scoring early on in the game. Mulbarton responded strongly putting Hethersett under pressure for long periods of the first half. Matthew Butcher in the Hethersett goal dominated his area and showed a safe pair of hands when needed. After the break Hethersett took control and shortly doubled their lead when Warminger curled home a superb effort over the keeper from an accute angle. Further goals from Jack Walker and Aaron O'Carroll from midfield and Robert Warminger completing an excellent double hat-trick. Mulbarton scored a well deserved late goal, but Hethersett's second half performance progressed the team into the second round. Thanks also to Hethersett ref Richard Bunn who stepped in at short notice due to the unavailability of the Mulbarton official. The visitors scored shortly after their keeper produced a fine save to lead 1-0 at the break. Hethersett made changes but good pocession did not produce an equaliser. Pushing forward Hethersett conceded a second before the final whistle. Sett competed well with Denny, Lemmon, Reed, Walker and Ocarroll in good form. The first half ended goalless but Hethersett took the lead through an own goal. St Andrews equalised before Hethersett regained the lead through Robert Warminger. Aaron O'carroll extened the lead with a long range drive shortly before the visitors pulled one back to set up a tight finish. But Warminger scored his 18th of the season to secure the points. Special mention to Hethersetts keeper Matthew Butcher for an assured performance in difficult conditions. Despite everybody getting wet through both teams and supporters enjoyed the game. November 8th Lakeford 5 Hethersett 0 Hethersett suffered the worst possible start conceding a 1st minute goal to the league leaders. The visitors found it difficult to contain Lakeford's towering striker who was instrumental in giving the hosts a 4-0 half time lead. Hethersett showed their superb character throughout and played the better football after the break and were unlucky not to score. Lakeford scored a late breakaway goal to gain a rather flattering 5-0 win. Tom Reed, Jack Walker and Josh Denny took the eye in a Hethersett performance of great commitment. Hethersett took a first half lead through a Close range header from Jake Easter. The second half continued with both sides creating chances before a Hethersett cross shot was deflected into his own net by a Taverham defender. The visitors fought back with 2 goals to force extra time . The match continued with both teams looking for a winner until Hethersett were awarded a penalty, resulting with a red card for the defender . Hethersetts penalty was saved resulting with the game going to penalties. The home side went 2-0 up through Tom Reed and Josh Denny. Hethersett keeper Matthew Butcher saved 2 spot kicks before converting one himself to leave the score at 3-3 meaning sudden death. A Hethersett miss enabled Taverham to slot home to win the tie. Matty Butcher was outstanding throughout with another superb display along with the rest of the team. Both teams congratulated each other and despite a few tears Hethersett's team spirit overcame the disappointment. TEAM- Matthew Butcher, Will Parker, James Lemmon, Andrew Cowans, Josh Denny, Aaron O'Carroll, Aaron Mehtab, Jack Walker, Tom Read, Robert Warminger, Jake Easter, Harrison Silvester, Tom Wyatt, Jacob Frazer December 13th Mulbarton 1 Hethersett 3 The game was played on a heavy surface making passing football difficult. Hethersett took the lead with a close range effort from Robert Warminger shortly before the game was marred by a nasty knee injury to Hethersett's Jake Easter. After a lengthy stoppage play resumed and the home team were awarded a penalty just before the break. Matty Butcher reacted superbly to save ensuring Hethersett the half time lead. Warminger doubled the visitors' lead with a fantastic looping header and completed yet another hat trick coolly slotting past the keeper. Mulbarton applied late pressure pulling a goal back. Easters visit to the A and E revealed muscle damage around the knee. Thanks to Mr Nurse the ref for his help given to the player, and calming players in a difficult situation. Hethersett ground out a hard fought victory and credit goes to the team. January 24th Norwich Utd 1 Hethersett 2 After several postponed matches the first half was void of much quality football. A defensive lapse resulted in Norwich Utd gaining a half time lead. Jacob Frazer replaced the injured Harry Silvester, as Hethersett began apply pressure. This led to a goal mouth scramble with Tom Wyatt stabbing the ball home from short range. Shortly after Hethersett keeper Matthew Butcher was brought outfield replaced by Max Bishop. Hethersett continued going forward, and after being foiled by the Norwich keeper on several occasions, Robert Warminger drilled home what proved to be the winner. Norwich applied late pressure but Hethersett stood firm, coping with added time to earn a well deserved victory. James Lemmon, Josh Denny, Andy Cowen, Will Parker, Jack Walker, Tom Reed and Ethan Poole also deserve praise for their team effort. The first half saw very little goal mouth action until Jacob Frazer's goal line headed clearance led to a scramble resulting in a deflected St. Andrew's goal. The second period saw Hethersett apply pressure resulting in a Robert Warminger equaliser. This gave Hethersett confidence with Warminger completing another hat-trick following some superb build up play. He then set up Tom Read who slotted home from an acute angle to cap off a tremendous individual performance. Congratulations to the team for an awesome second half display to earn a notable 4-1 win, their third away victory in succession. TEAM

Poole, Harry Silvester February 14th Hethersett 3 Lakeford 8 Lakeford as in the previous fixture proved to be a strong skilful side taking a early lead. The visitors added 2 more goals before Hethersett's hard working Tom Reed latched onto a free kick to pull a goal back late in the first half. Hethersett soon reduced the arrears when Robert Warminger ran through the defence to slot the ball past the keeper. Another Warminger effort was ruled off side before the visitors scored. Robert then scored another, again running through Lakefords defence. Further late goals from Lakeford spoiled Hethersetts comeback, to end the winning run. Defences dominated the early exchanges until Robert Warminger burst through to beat the Walsham keeper at the far post. Hethersett held the lead until the break and looked to have extended their advatage when a Jake Frazer header was adjudged marginally off side. As both sides tired in the heavy conditions Matty Butcher was finally beaten in the Hethersett goal after another fine performance to bring the scores level. Walsham applied pressure but the visitors rear guard stood firm with Will Parker scooping the ball off the line. With six minutes remaining the midfield set Waminger through again running away from goal . As the walsham keeper advanced the prolific Hethersett striker lobbed the ball into the net. More home pressure was absorbed enabling Hethersett to earn another hard fought 2-1 away win. An ever improving Andy Cowen beside club stalwart Josh Denny were awesome at the back with Reed, Walker and Methab working hard in midfield. March 7th Hethersett 1 Costessey 0 TEAM - Matthew Butcher, Max Bishop, James Lemmon, Andy Cowan, Josh Denny, Jack Walker, Aaron Mehtab, Jacob Frazer, Tom Read, Robert Warminger, Tom Wyatt, Jake Easter, Harrison Silvester This match was evenly contested on a good playing surface. Hethersett carved out the better chances with Tom Read and Tom Wyatt going close. The home side took the lead when a superb Josh Denny free kick chipped over the Costessey defence was converted by the alert Robert Warminger beating the off side trap. Hethersett were put under second half pressure but again kept their shape with Lemmon, Cowan , Denny and Bishop in the home back four and another dominant performance from keeper Matty Butcher acheiving a well deserved clean sheet. Midfield players Mehtab, Walker, Frazer, Easter, Silvester and player of the month Tom Read also deserve credit for their work. This 1-0 victory is reward for another commited effort from Hethersett U13s. March 14th Hethersett 3 Attleborough 0 Hethersett and Attleborough played out a goaless first period which saw little goalmouth action, with most of the play involving the midfield. Hethersett captain James Lemmon came closest with a powerful 25 yard effort skimming the crossbar. The second half began with Hethersett applying more pressure and were rewarded when Tom Wyatt scored from close range. Shortly afterwards the hosts doubled their lead when Jack Walker volleyed home from 20 yards. With Hethersett now in control Robert Waminger took his seasons goal tally to 31 with another fine strike. Central defenders Josh Denny and Andy Cowan were again instrumental in keeping a clean sheet. Final score Hethersett U13s 3 Attleborough 0. Hethersett soon made the advantage count with Matty Butcher scoring two quick goals. Robert Warminger increased the lead before Butcher grabbed two more finely finished strikes. Horsford to their credit continued battling but it was Hethersett who went into the break five goals to the good.The second period continued in the same vein with three further goals from Robert Warminger, and another coming from Josh Denny, who reverted to midfield for the second half. Max Bishop did everything asked for when called upon in goal supported by the dominant back four. The first half was short of passing football with the ball constantly in the air. Hethersett took the lead through Matty Butcher followed by a well worked free kick which was headed in by Max Bishop. Hethersett's passing football improved after the break with further goals from Butcher and Bishop. Josh Denny reverted from defence to midfield and added two long range goals to the tally. Jack Walker worked hard from midfield and was unlucky to see his free kick strike the bar. Macauly Ryan made his first appearance in goal and was well protected by the resilient back four. TEAM - McCauley Ryan, Will Parker, James Lemmon, Andy Cowan, Josh Denny, Max Bishop, Aaron Mehtab, Jack Walker, Tom Read, Robert Warminger, Matthew Butcher, Tom Wyatt, Jake Easter April 24th Attleborough 1 Hethersett 2 Hethersett began this Saturday fixture with a full strength side featuring striker Robert Warminger who was not expected to play due to injury. The match began in a scrappy fashion with Attleborough taking the lead with a lobbed shot. Hethersett struggled to control the midfield until shortly before the break when player of the month Jack Walker fed Warminger on the right who slotted home from a tight angle. Hethersett created another couple of chances but the first half ended 1-1. After the break both sides applied pressure without reward. Late on in the half, Josh Denny reverted from defence to midfield to feed Warminger again on the right to lob the keeper with a trademark goal. Attleborough surged forward late on but could not break through Hethersetts defence. Lemmon, Parker, Butcher, Ryan, Cowan, Mehtab, Read, Wyatt, Frazer, Easter and Bishop also deserve credit for their contribution for this hard earned victory securing Hethersetts 3rd place finish in the league.
