September 12th St Andrew's 2 Hethersett 1
Hethersett Athletic opened their campaign away to St Andrews. Hethersett knew this would be a tough game against a team who finished 5th last season. Hethersett adjusted to B league football very well playing good football and showing good discipline with their shape throughout the game. During the first half Hethersett enjoyed most of the possession and were creating opportunities but could not find a way through the St Andrews defence. Whilst the Hethersett defence stood their ground they failed to cope with a ball played over the top and unfortunately Hethersett keeper George Fisher was too slow off the mark and the St Andrews striker was first to the ball to give the home team the lead. Hethersett made a tactical change and brought on Harry Jones in centre midfield to strengthen things up. Hethersett started the second half brightly and continued to play good football and was pressing for a deserved equaliser, which eventually came thanks to some neat finishing from Lewis Fox. That goal rocked St Andrews who were pegged back in their own half as Hethersett continued to press. The winner came from another fine finish from Lewis Fox. Hethersett made good use of their substitutions bringing on another holding midfielder and a fresh defender to protect their lead and secure a deserved win. Man of the match was awarded to Lewis Fox.

September 19th Hethersett 2 Mattishall 3
Hethersett started the game well playing good football. They were creating early chances putting Mattishall under some early pressure and were rewarded with a couple of corners in succession. The first one was excellently delivered by Jack Freeman, which went out for another corner. This time Harry Jones delivered an equally excellent corner which Harry Denny headed into the back of the net on 10 minutes. Hethersett seemed to relax after getting that early goal and as a result that found themselves 3 - 1 down at half time. Hethersett looked a different side in the second half and showed the determination that they showed in the first 10 minutes of the game. Harry Denny pulled a goal back for Hethersett to make it 3-2. Hethersett continued to create chances and made good use of their substitutions in an attempt to get a deserved equaliser. In the last 10 minutes, Hethersett played with 3 at the back and 3 strikers. Hethersett remained strong in defence sniffing out any attacks. In the last minute of the game Hethersett were awarded a corner, which was superbly delivered by Harry Jones but well defended by the visitors who managed to hold on to take all 3 points. The game was played in good spirit by both teams. Man of the match was awarded to Hethersett George Fisher.

September 26th Toftwood 8 Hethersett 1
Hethersett simply did not perform today and as a consequence were outclassed and outplayed by a well organised, disciplined and very good Toftwood team. Hethersett were 3 down within 10 minutes and found themselves 4 - 1 down at the interval. Toftwood scored a further 4 goals to make the final score 8 - 1. Despite the poor performance Josh Lacey and Jacob Eley played well. Hetherset need to get back to basics at training and need to get back to winning ways next week.

October 3rd Hethersett 2 Norwich 2
Hethersett bounced back from last weeks defeat with a good performance. Hethersett started the game the better side and created some decent attacking moves. They took the lead thanks to some neat play and persistent pressure on the visitors goal which resulted in a lose ball falling to Jake Eley who hit a cracking shot which found the top right corner' Jake's celebration was equally as good as the goal! Hethersett were a little bit unlucky not to go into the break with a deserved lead but they failed to deal with a ball played into the box, which was slotted home from close range. The second half started brightly for Hethersett who continued to play some good passing football with Harry Jones and Daniel Mehtab linking up well on the right hand side of the park. Jack Freeman who was playing left back won the ball and from the half way line played a superb ball in to the box which was picked up by Harry Denny who intelligently shrugged off 2 defenders to slot the ball home. The visitors did not surrender and with 10 minutes left found their equaliser from a well-taken corner. Both teams were looking for that winner but both defences stood strong and the points were shared. Daniel Mehtab, Oliver Warrington and Jake Eley all put in a great display but man of the match went to Hethersett captain Decland Dowe.

At times Hethersett's passing was a joy to watch. They scored a further six goals in the second half. Costeesey scored a consolation. Hethersett also missed some great chances with shots being cleared off the line and chances from close in being missed. The display proved that Hethersett will be a major threat this season. Daniel Mehtab was named man of the match.

November 7th - Hethersett 0 Loddon Grasshoppers 4
Hethersett Athletic Under-12s entertained Loddon Grasshoppers in atrocious weather conditions. The players were greeted with heavy rain and hale stones during the warm up and opening 10 minutes of the game. Despite the weather both teams played well although Hethersett got off to a bad start and found themselves a goal down after five minutes. They soon settled down and matched Loddon for the remainder of the first half. The second half was fairly even but Loddon converted their chances with three further goals. Hethersett created chances but, with no real conviction, could not find the back of the net. There were good performances from Martin Schiller, Declan Dowe, Bradley Tillett and Tyler White. Hethersett man of the match went to Joe Moorehouse.

November 14th Salhouse 0 Hethersett 3
Hethersett entertained Mulbarton and put in a solid display throughout the match. Hethersett started slowly and found themselves a goal down but responded well by creating lots of good chances. Harry Denny scored twice in the first half and completed his hatrick with a further goal in the second half. Mulbarton responded to make it 3 - 2 but Hethersett were the better side creating lots of chances and scoring a further 3 goals (Tyler White 2 and Harry Jones) to make the final score 6 - 2 and secure all 3 points. There were excellent performances from Martin Schiller, Daniel Mehtab and Harry Denny. Oliver Warrington put in an outstanding display and received the man of the match award. Next week Hethersett have a rest from league duty and host Dereham Town in round 2 of the cup. November 21st Hethersett 0 Dereham 4
Hethersett entertained Dereham in Round 2 of the cup. After the opening 5 minutes both teams settled down and started to play some nice football. Both teams created chances but could not find the back of the net until the 12th minute when Dereham put an opportunity away to take a one nil lead. Hethersett started the second half the better side and had a strong penalty appeal turned away. Dereham scored what they thought was their second but this ruled off side by the referee. Hethersett had a second penalty appeal turned away when Tyler White was once again brought down in the box. With 7 minutes left on the clock Dereham found a second and a couple of minutes later found a third, which secured victory for the away side. With 5 minutes remaining Hethersett made a couple of substitutions and Dereham scored their 4th to make the final score Hethersett 0 Dereham 4. This score line completely did not reflect the tight game between these two sides which proved that the gulf between the bottom of the A league and the top of the B league is getting smaller. There were good performances from Lewis Fox, Jayden Brooker, Oliver Warrington but man of the match went to Martin Schiller. But well done to the whole team who put in a very good performance.

January 16th Norwich United 3 Hethersett 3
Hethersett played their first match in 5 weeks away to Norwich Utd. Hethersett's first half performance was way below their best and when they failed to deal with a simple corner they found themselves a goal down. Harry Denny equalised with a fine strike from outside the box. But with the wind against them Hethersett struggled at times and conceded a further 2 goals. Their second half performance was much better and the introduction of Josh Lacey and Jasper Williams tightened up the defence and strengthened the midfield. Oliver Warrington was causing all sorts of trouble in midfield and fed a superb cutting through ball into the Norwich box which Tyler White slid into to beat the keeper to the ball who could only watch it cross the line. Hethersett continued to press causing havoc in the Norwich defence and when the ball fell nicely to Daniel Mehtab just inside the box he unleashed a fierce strike which went over the keeper and under the cross bar for the deserved equaliser. Both teams had chances to get the winner but a draw was probability a fair result. Oliver Warrington was brought down with minutes remaining and unfortunately could not take any further part but should be fit for Hethersett's next game.

Hethersett was unlucky not to get a third when an excellent Tyler White effort was well saved. Hethersett fell asleep in defence in the last 10 minutes of the first half and conceded 3 goals. Scole scored a further 3 goals in the second half with Tyler White grabbing Hethersett's third from a well executed free kick from Jack Freeman.

February 13th Loddon Grasshoppers 5 Hethersett 0
Hethersett travelled to Loddon Grasshoppers who were sitting comfortably at the top of the table. It was never going to be an easy game but Hethersett travelled without 5 key players of which 4 of the players missing are an integral part of the midfield. However, this presented an opportunity for a number of other players to step into the limelight and the team put in a superb first half display. Hethersett matched Loddon in every position defending very well, working hard in midfield and creating chances. Loddon scored a controversial goal just before the break when a Loddon striker kicked the ball out of the Hethersett keeper's hands. Despite appeals from the majority of Hethersett players the referee awarded the goal. Hethersett continued to play well in the second half but conceded four goals which did not reflect their second half performance. Loddon's fifth goal was scored in a controversial period of added time. There were good performances from Josh Lacey, Joe Moorhouse and Bradley Tillett who received the man of the match award.

March 20th Hethersett 1 Toftwood 2
Hethersett produced a battling performance against second place Toftwood. Hethersett started poorly conceding 2 goals in the opening 7 minutes. The visitorís first goal was down to some poor defending although Hethersett keeper Jayden Brooker pulled off a fine save, the Toftwood striker was first to react to the loose ball. Toftwood's second goal came from a superb through ball from midfield, which caught Hethersett cold. Hethersett settled down into the game and started to match the visitors and defended well to prevent Tofwood increasing their lead. Jayden Brooker was outstanding in goal and produced some fine saves. Harry Denny scored Hethersett's goal just before the break with a fine shot from outside the box which some how slid through the goalkeeperís hands. The second half was a good encounter with Tofwood pushing forward looking for the cushion of a third goal. Hethersett had a good 10 minute spell in the second half producing chances but unable to find the back of the net. The final 5 minutes were tense for both sides as Hethersett came close to an equaliser but Tofwood held on to claim all 3 points. Man of the match went to Hethersett keeper Jayden Brooker.

Jasper Williams, Daniel Cook and Sam Hayes all took this opportunity and performed exceptionally well. Hethersett took a firm grip on the game with 2 early goals from Harry Denny. However, Jex scored a fluke goal just before the break. Hethersett started the second half the better side scoring 2 early goals to take a 4 - 1 lead with Denny completing his hatrick and Tyler White scoring the other. Jex stepped up a gear and started to play a very physical game and started to apply some pressure in the Hethersett box. They were rewarded with a well-taken goal to make it 4 - 2 and five minutes later scored a third to give the game a tense finish. Hethersett deservedly held on take all 3 points.
