Hethersett started strongly with Butcher going close. Warminger scored two quick goals and then Easter set up Walker for the third. After the break Walker made it 4-0 and Warminger took his tally to four in a very comfortable victory.

Hethersett began with the strong wind in their favour applying pressure to the Spixworth defence. An early free kick was placed in the bottom corner by Matthew Youngs. Before the break, Josh Denny powerfully converted a Tom Read corner.  In the second half Youngs headed home superbly from another well worked corner, making the score 3-0. Spixworth began to take advantage of the wind, scoring 2 goals, before equalising from a long range free kick. Spixworth were denied another goal, after Denny blocked well on the line. Final score 3-3.

Hethersett entertained A league Dereham Town in a very tight encounter in the 1st round of the League Cup. Both defences showed resilience with Ryan, Parker, Lemmon, Cowan, Denny and Youngs working hard in the Hethersett rearguard. Dereham had the better chances but failed to convert, taking the match into extra time. During the 1st period the visiters scored 2 well worked goals to seal victory. Although the Hethersett players were dissapointed this performance will give them confidence for the games to come.

Hethersett took an early lead through an own goal before adding another 5 before the break. The second followed the same pattern with another 8 goals without reply. Top scorer Warminger netted 5, Youngs 4, Walker 2 while Read and Denny also added 1 each. Matthew Youngs produced a dominant display in midfireld with Jack Walker, supported by Tom Read and Aaron Mehtab causing problems on the flanks. St Andrews also deserve praise for their work rate during the game. Final Score Hethersett U14's 14 St Andrews 0.

Hethersett continued their unbeaten league campaign with another comfortable victory. Hethersett again scored early through Warminger with Read and Denny scoring 1 each. A double from Cowan, and a direct corner kick goal from Youngs plus another strike from Warminger gave the visitors a 7-0 lead at the break. Costessey improved after the interval, but Hethersett were awarded a penalty when Easter was brought down in the box. Youngs converted the spot kick before Costessey pulled a goal back. Warminger completed another hat-trick with an angled left foot lob. Final score, Costessey u14s 1 Hethersett u14s 9

Hethersett entertained North Walsham in a physical game. Stone scored his first Hethersett goal followed by a superb left-foot volley from Read, set up by a tremendous run from Walker. The visitors pulled one back before half time followed by a second half equaliser after indecision in the Hethersett defence. The match continued in a competitive manner with both teams searching for a winner. Final score Hethersett u14's 2 North Walsham 2. After the final whistle a small presentation was made to Andy Cowan who is now leaving for a new life in Australia. All the best Andy! This is pictured above.

Hethersett Athletic Under-14s entertained Norwich United in the second round of the Norfolk Minor Cup on a heavy pitch. Hethersett began brightly creating chances and Ryan Stone drove home to give the hosts a half time lead. The second period continued in the same vein with Jack Walker slotting home Hethersett's second late on. Denny, Youngs, Read and Butcher put in good performances to progress Hethersett to the third round.

Under-14s began slowly at Salhouse creating a few half chances. A corner from Read was met by Denny at the near post to open the scoring. A Warminger header was unfortunatly ruled out for a debatable offside. Hethersett started to find their rhythm in the second period, with a long range volley from Youngs finding the corner of the net. Another late corner was this time met by the head of Youngs to complete the scoring. Butcher, Lemmon, Frazer, Walker and Mehtab also stood out. Salhouse 0 Hethersett u14's 3.

Hethersett began brightly against Mulbarton in this local derby creating several chances. Youngs supplied a through ball for Warminger who slotted home to give Hethersett a half time lead. Butcher replaced Read in goal after the break with the latter reverting to wide left. Walker scored the second with another fine strike before Warminger completed the scoring with a close range effort. The match was played in friendly atmosphere with handshakes before and after the game. Mulbarton 0 Hethersett U14s 3.

December 12th                Hethersett      3     Hellesdon    1

Hethersett knocked A League side Hellesdon out of the Norfolk Minor Cup to reach the quarter-finals and a tough draw at Gorleston. The Under-14s began strongly against A league Hellesdon in the Norfolk Minor Cup third round scoring twice in the opening five minutes. Rob Warminger scored  after being set up by Josh Denny and then Jack Walker stabbed home after good work from Warminger and Read. A free kick from debutant Cain Living found Warminger who slotted in Hethersett’s third before the break. Hellesdon pulled a goal back but Hethersett defended well creating further chances to earn a place in the quarter final. This was a superb team effort from an ever improving Hethersett side.

 Hethersett entertained Spixworth in a wind affected match. Hethersett began strongly with the wind in their favour with Wyatt firing home from close range. Young's long range free kick went through the keepers guard before he added a third with a well executed lob before the break. Spixworth applied pressure with the wind behind them scoring a well taken free kick. Hethersett replied immediately with Warminger latching onto a through ball and scoring in the top corner under pressure from a defender. Hethersett dominated the remainder of the game with Read performing well in goal.

January 23rd             Gorleston Rangers     3       Hethersett     1

Hethersett Athletic Under-14s travelled to Gorleston Rangers in the quarter-finals of the Norfolk County Minor Cup. A strong physical Gorleston side began brightly and took a two goal lead before the hard working Walker was fouled in the box for Matthew Youngs to rifle home the penalty. Hethersett conceded a third after the break and couldn’t turn several chances into goals. The game was marred by a Gorleston sending off and a Hethersett booking.

Hethersett Under-14s began slowly against Costessey before Robert Warminger slotted home a fine goal and then added another before the break. Hethersett dominated the second half with Warminger adding another three. Player of the month Matthew Youngs scored a hat trick with further goals from Josh Denny, Jack Walker, Ryan Stone and a header from Matthew Butcher who was outstanding in defence. Hethersett keeper Ryan capped another fine display with a late penalty save. Credit goes to Costessey for their superb attitude during and after the game which Hethersett won 12-0.

February 6th             North Walsham    0      Hethersett    1

Hethersett Athletic Under-14s travelled to close rivals North Walsham and began with a strong wind in their favour. Hethersett had several chances including two Youngs’ free kicks hitting the woodwork. Walsham applied pressure after the break but Living, Butcher and ‘keeper Ryan were outstanding in defence. Further Hethersett attacking play was finally rewarded when Ryan Stone volleyed home from just inside the box. Hethersett soaked up late pressure to record an important away win.

Hethersett Athletic Under-14s took an early lead in their home game against Attleborough when top scorer Robert Warminger scored. They had several good chances but failed to score again until the second half when a long range Warminger shot was fumbled. Hethersett hot the woodwork twice before the visitors scored with a superb free-kick. Hethersett survived late pressure to hang on.

Hethersett Athletic Under-14s beat Watton 4-2 to maintain their unbeaten league record and put more pressure on leaders Thorpe. They started badly and were lucky not to fall behind before settling down and taking control. Cain Living and Josh Denny gave them a 2-0 lead and, after the break, Living made it 3-0 before Watton pulled a goal back. Ryan Stone restored Hethersett’s three goal advantage before Watton scored a consolation goal late on. Unluckiest player on the pitch was Royce Stevenson who had three “goals” disallowed.

Hethersett Athletic Under-14s had to reshuffle their pack due to injury but equalised an early Norwich United goal with a strike from Royce Stevenson. In the second half Hethersett took the lead through an own goal but Norwich hit back with two goals to regain the lead. Hethersett continued to push forward and Cain Living equalised. The draw ended a run of 10 consecutive wins for the team who stay in second place in the league still with an unbeaten record.

Hethersett Under-14s began brightly against Attleborough with Aaron Mehtab opening the scoring from close range. Royce Stevenson doubled the lead with a curling shot following a good run. Jack Walker made it three with a thunderous shot from 25 yards. After the break Hethersett continued to create chances and Matt Youngs fired in a low shot to complete the scoring. It was a highly entertaining game which saw Hethersett continue their promotion push.

Hethersett u14's dominated the visit to St Andrews but relied on a Josh Denny long range low shot to give them a half time lead. The second period continued the same way with the St Andrews keeper making several good saves and Hethersett hitting the woodwork on seven occasions during the game. The only St Andrews chance was cleared off the line by Ryan Stone. St Andrews 0 Hethersett U14s 1.

Hethersett  dominated their penultimate league fixture at home to Dereham Wanderers. Goals from Youngs 8, Stevenson  4, Denny 3, Living 3, Walker 1, and a first eleven a side goal from defender Lemmon with a header ensured a comfortable victory against Dereham who to their credit battled to the final whistle. Read, Parker, Butcher, Mehtab, Stone and Wyatt all contributed to the performance. Hethersett are now guaranteed a top two finish and face leaders Thorpe in the last game. Hethersett u14's 20 Dereham Wanderers 0.

Hethersett U14s completed their league campaign with a visit to Champions Thorpe. Few chances were created on a rock hard pitch with Hethersett looking more likely to break the deadlock. After 55 minutes a long crossfield pass from James Lemmon found Matthew Youngs on the right who in turn supplied a pinpoint pass to Rhys Stevenson just inside the box who under pressure turned the defender to slot home past the onrushing keeper. This proved to be the winner meaning Hethersett completed their league programme unbeaten 2 points behind Thorpe ensuring promotion as runners up. Congratulations to the Players and everybody connected to the team.
