September 11th - Norwich City 2 Hethersett 1
Louise Pritchett, Beth Evans, Connie Canning, Letitia Dye, Erica Hall, Ella Stephenson, Sophie Cooke, Lisa Miners, Rhiannon McKibben, Adelaide Mott, Sophie Rock
A good performance for Hethersett girls, but no points to show for it. HAFC led on 18 minutes when the City keeper could only partially block a Rocky shot, after a good though ball from midfield. Just reward for a first half where HAFC played some of their best passing football, defense tight, midfield dominating and forwards working tirelessly.
Norwich equalised cruelly on 37 minutes, capitalising on a defensive error.
Norwich edged in the second half, creating several chances, 3 of which drew top drawer saves from Louise. HAFC never quite achieved excellent first half standards, but worked hard throughout. Norwich scored a second goal following a goal-line bundle, 2 shots blocked with the third attempt crossing the line.
October 2nd - Hethersett 6 Spixworth 0
Squad : Louise Pritchett, Beth Evans, Beth Wagstaff, Phoebe Wells, Connie Canning, Ella Stephenson, Lisa Miners, Sophie Cooke, Rhiannon McKibben, Erica Hall, Letitia Dye, Sophie Rock
A well contested game of football from both sides. 1 - 0 to HAFC after 5 minutes, Ella scoring from a Rocky cross. Five minutes later, 2 - 0, Ella's perfect cross and a Rocky header. 3 -0 following good work from Phebe, Rhiannon, then Rocky, scoring from long range. Spixworth continued to work hard, but Cookie, Lisa, Titch and Erica continually won balls and spread the play with Phebe, Beth, Beth W (Waggy!) and Connie all solidly defending. Louise. solid at the back, made a great block to feet when Spixworth were 1 on 1 just before half time.
Second half, Lisa forced the ball to Rocky who grabbed her hatrick. Seven minutes later, Ella went close from a Cookie header, the resulting corner from Rocky going in off a Spixworth defender - 5 - 0. A further Cookie throughball saw Rocky shoot just wide. The 6th goal came from a Cookie throw in to Rocky who fired home from close range. A good game and comfortable win.
October 9th - Aylsham 2 Hethersett 3
Squad : Louise Pritchett, Beth Evans, Beth Wagstaff, Phebe Wells, Ella Stephenson, Lisa Miners, Sophie Cooke, Erica Hall, Letitia Dye, Adelaide Mott, Sophie Rock
'A hard fought win for HAFC over a good, top of the table Aylsham. Hethersett dominated early, Adelaide putting several great crosses in. However, Aylsham scored first, 7 minutes. Four minutes later, great work from Cookie looping a cross to Ella... 1 - 1.
Ella then scored again lofting over the keeper ... 1 - 2. Further HAFC pressure followed before Aylsham snatched a second to equalise 2 - 2.
10.27am Rocky broke through, a low shot inside the left hand post - 2 - 3.
A well contested second half, both sides playing excellent football, Louise making two important saves to keep the lead. Passion, disciplined defending and dogged team work saw HAFC secure a deserved 3 points. 'Girls of the game' Hethersett - Adelaide Mott.'
October 23rd Hethersett 7 Spixworth 1
Squad : Louise Pritchett, Letitia Dye, Beth Evans, Kathryn Burton, Ella Stephenson, Lisa Miners, Sophie Cooke, Erica Hall, Rhiannon McKibben, Sophie Rock
Spixworth applied early pressure, HAFC working hard to win the ball, 18 minutes before Lisa fired in from 8 yards. 1 0. 10 minutes later Rocky scored the second from a narrow angle for a hard earned half time lead.
Second half, HAFC started brightly, yet conceded a breakaway goal ... 2 1. Minutes later, Titch's powerful shot deflected off a defender on the line 3 1. Hethersett then took full control with their best goal - Kathryn ran out of defence, Rhiannon, Rocky then Ella - 4 1. Shortly after Beth Evans found Rocky who calmly beat the keeper 5 1. Another pin point pass from Cookie found Ella, taking it first time - 6 1. Erica wrapped up a great team performance with a powerful drive 7 - 1.

Goals from Lisa Miners and Ella Stephenson levelled the scoreline at 5-5 only for Norwich to poach the winning goal with four minutes remaining.

Aylsham started well, shooting from distance in two minutes, Beth Evans, stand in goalkeeper, tipping over the bar. Hethersett soon settled into their usual passing game taking the lead in 6 minutes, Adelaide scoring from a superb Lisa Miners cross. HAFC continued to press, but then conceded from a counter attack 1 - 1.
Several efforts saw HAFC pressing to regain the lead, and in 25 minutes Lisa fed in Rocky to score, 2 - 1. An excellent end to end goal followed - Cookie to Lisa, to Rocky who put in a perfect cross for Adelaide to score - 3 - 1.
Aylsham battled in a well contested second half, Hethersett losing their shape a little, but Phoebe marked their 'danger' player superbly. Aylsham grabbed a deserved second goal but HAFC held on to win.

Defender Beth Evans showed that she has the goal touch with a hat-trick with her third goal coming from the penalty spot. Hethersett’s other strike came from top scorer Sophie Rock. The girls played well with Ella Stephenson once again outstanding in another good Hethersett display.

Hethersett never really hit their form suffering a rare defeat by Aylsham. An even first 25 minutes before Aylsham took the lead, a counter attack... and then shortly after scored a second. The girls worked hard to reply, three times going close just before half time, 2 off target and 1 good save.
Second half, Hethersett dominated for 20 minutes, creating 5 good chances but all off target. Aylsham broke away for their 3rd and then a 4th - a hat-trick for their No. 9. A Beth Evans 'wonder goal' with 15 minutes to go running from her own half to chip the keeper made it 4 1, but Aylsham had the last word rounding off a bad day for the girls 5 1.

Smiles back on faces with an emphatic win. First half HAFC had to be patient, Beth W in goal alert, and it took 27 mins to get the breakthrough - a Rocky goal from Lisa's pin-point cross. Pressure mounted, several shots saved or wide, Beth hit the bar and Cookie stepped aside a tackle passed through to Rocky for her 2nd.
Second half, after 2 early saves from Cookie, Hethersett swept Red Rose aside with some of their best passing football, a superb team performance and Beth W, Catherine, Connie solid at the back. Lisa shot, keeper blocked and Rocky pounced on the rebound for her hatrick. Beth scored a crisp 4th and Rhiannon (playing her best game) retrieved a ball given up for dead to pass across to Rocky 5 - 0. The 6th, Rhiannon to Lisa who 'one two'd' with Rocky, to Beth who slotted low and hard into the corner. The final goal, courtesy of a great pass from Erica was scored by Rocky, her 5th, rounding off a 'tip-top' HAFC performance.

Cup win over Aylsham in a game that saw them score in
the first and last minute of the game. Sophie Rock
gave them the early lead only for Aylsham to equalise
and then take the lead. Hethersett battled back after
the break and Sophie Rock scored from the penalty spot
and then went on to finish off a flowing move to give
the home side victory. Rock’s hat-trick made her the
first female player to complete 150 goals for
Hethersett Athletic and she now stands fourth in the
club’s all time scorers’ list.
April 3rd Red Rose 0 Hethersett 9
Squad : Jas Patterson, Ella Stephenson, Phebe Wells, Beth Evans, Beth Wagstaff, Connie Canning, Sophie Cooke, Erica Hall, Rhiannon McKibben, Adelaide Mott, Sophie Rock.
A great performance from the girls - too much detail to do it justice in a few words, and also a 5th consecutive win! HAFC dominated from the off, Adelaide like a terrier on the wing, Cookie and Beth E winning every ball in midfield and Beth W, Connie and Phoebe tenacious in the tackle. It took 10 minutes to get the breakthrough...Cookie won the ball, to Rocky and then Ella 1 -0. Ella returned the compliment exchanging passes with Rocky who cracked in no. 2. Wave after wave of attack took its toll on Red Rose, with Beth E scoring 2 good team goals just before half time.
Second half Rocky scored a classy no.5 from a superb Adelaide corner, and then her hatrick and Hethersett's 6th from another good Adelaide through ball. Rhiannon and Erica played some great little touches on the wings, as the game turned into a bit of a rout, with Cookie and Beth E piling into the area and between them got the ball past the goalie on the line for no.7...Cookie awarding it to Beth for her hatrick. Adelaide got a well deserved goal straight in from the corner spot for no.8 and Rocky charged through for her 4th to finish the game 9 - 0. A special word for Jas and Ella, Jas doing well at left back and then her and Ella both do a half in goal for the first time ever, both doing great jobs and keeping a clean sheet. The parents summed it up 'a real team performance - every girl playing their part!'
April 9th Spixworth 1 Hethersett 3
Squad : Sophie Rock, Adelaide Mott, Phebe Wells, Beth Wagstaff, Beth Evans, Sophie Cooke, Lisa Miners, Rhiannon McKibben, Ella Stephenson, Catherine Burton.
Match Report :
Hethersett made it 6 wins out of the last 6 in a game of 2 halves!
First half HAFC dominated, and although Spixworth battled they couldnt stop the away team goind 2 0 up within 15 minutess. The first goal came from an Ella shot that was blocked, Rocky swooping on the rebound, and the second from a cookie pin-point header to Rocky who stepped inside to score her second. Both Ella and then Cookie hit the post before Adelaide ( a clean sheet in goal) played the ball to Rocky, who touched on to Beth Evans running through to score the 3rd.
Second half, Spixworth stepped up to make it much more of an even contest and scored their only goal from a well hit corner, the NO.8 slamming the ball home. HAFC losted a little of their shape but worked hard as a team, with Rocky in goal, to cling on for a hard fought win.
April 16th Red Rose 1 Hethersett 4
Squad : Erica Hall, Beth Evans, Beth Wagstaff, Jas Patterson, Phebe Wells, Lisa Miners, Sophie Cooke (Capt), Ella Stephenson, Adelaide Mott, Sophie Rock
Girl of the Game (voted by the opposition) : Ella Stephenson
Hethersett extended their winning run beating a spritely Red Rose side with a very good second half display. Despite having the majority of the play in the first half the away side only managed 1 goal due to a strong defensive home team. HAFC got the break through when Lisa crossed to Adelaide from the left who volleyed home after 25 minutes. Adelaide was very lively on the left, Jas the same on the right, both having arguably their best games yet for the club. Lisa, Cookie, Ella and Beth E were very strong in the middle of the field but the girls couldn't convert possession into goals and were caught cold just before half time 1 - 1.
Second half, the away side played some superb football with Phebe, Beth W and Jas defending confidently and converting defence into attack, and went ahead with a Beth W through ball to Rocky who beat 3 players clinically to make it 2 - 1. Soon after Cookie passed through to Adelaide who scored with an exquisite curler into the top corner 3 - 1. Rocky then rattled the post with a great shot off an Erica lay off before Adelaide shot over . The 4th goal came from a sweeping move involving Rocky, Cookie, Jaz and then Adelaide for her hatrick. A competent and confident performance again by the girls and a special mention to Erica and Beth E who did very well in goal. Looking good for 2nd place in the league and hopefully also heading for the cup final in the cup!
April 26th Aylsham 0 Hethersett 4
Girl of the Game (voted by opposition) - Beth Evans
Squad : Phebe Wells, Beth Evans, Beth Wagstaff, Connie Canning, Lisa Miners, Sophie Cooke (Capt), Ella Stephenson, Adelaide Mott, Erica Hall, Sophie Rock, Rhiannon McKIbben
Hethersett enjoyed the early possession and several chances, before the first goal coming from a Beth Evans pass to Rocky who elegantly chipped the keeper 1 - 0, 15 mins. Whilst Aylsham looked lively Phebe, the 2 Beths and Connie defended stoutly and rarely looked troubled. Cookie's challenges and a number of lovely passes forward from Lisa kept the bulk of play in the Aylsham half, with Ella and Adelaide causing problems on the wings. The second goal came when Rocky passed back to Ella, across to Cookie who played a perfectly wieghted ball to Adelaide who hit a screamer for 2 0.
The second half was all Hethersett, with Erica and Rhiannon joining the action and applying their 'deft' touches to a team display of assured and passing football. For the 3rd goal Jassy won the ball and laid off to Cookie, flicked on to Ella who steamed past 2 players and scored at her 2nd attempt 3 - 0. Rocky then hammered the bar before grabbing her 2nd with an excellent finish from a classy ball in from Jas on the left with 5 minutes to go. The winning run continues!! 8 out of 8.
April 30th Hethersett 5 Red Rose 0
Girl of the Game (voted by opposition) : Sophie Rock
Squad : Lisa Miners, Phebe Wells, Beth Wagstaff, Beth Evans, Jas Patterson, Rhiannon McKibben, Sophie Cooke, Ella Stephenson, Adelaide Mott, Sophie Rock.
A slow start (too many Bank Holiday sleepovers I reckon!!) meant it took the home team 10 minutes to score their first goal, Adelaide putting in one of her many good crosses for Phebe to stoke the ball home...her first goal for Hethersett!! Some great link up play then saw Lisa pick out Rocky who laid it to Adelaide seeing an audatious attempt fall just wide. Lisa then played a pinpoint ball through to Rocky who played on to Ella finishing calmly for 2 - 0. Jas had a prticularly impressive first half both tackling and passing but it was Adelaide and Ella working together to set up Rocky for number 3 on half an hour.
Second half the girls put into ply the half time team talk...great example of 'triangles' up and down the pitch. Lisa threw a long ball to Rocky who took 3 touches and then delicately placed the ball just inside the near post. 4 - 0. Although HAFC had to defend at times, they did so with calmness and control, eptomised by Rhiannon who'se assertiveness and touch seems to grow now with every game. A solid second half by all (too many names to mention) was capped by a 5th goal just before the end when Rocky follwed up an Ella effort beating the keeper to the ball. Losing count but think that's 9 wins out of 9 girls - well done and lets make sure we take that into next week's Cup Final!
May 7th Norwich City 2 Hethersett 1
Squad : Phebe Wells, Beth Wagstaff, Beth Evans, Jas Patterson, Rhiannon McKibben, Catherine Burton, Sophie Cooke (Capt), Lisa Miners, Ella Stephenson, Adelaide Mott, Sophie Rock.
Girl of the game (nominated by the officials) : Ella Stephenson
A pulsating match between the two old rivals, where Hethersett enjoyed the majority of possession and showed off their passing football, a point acknowledged by parents and neutrals. HAFC were unlucky to be taken by surprise in the second minute when a Norwich corner found its way into the net by 2 deflections, giving the keeper no chance. The girls however bounced back admirably, Rocky and Cookie covering every blade of grass, Lisa digging in, Ella and Adelaide penetrating down the wings. Ella and Rocky both tested the keeper early after good corners from Adelaide, and then Cookie shot just wide of the right hand post. The defence of Beth W, Beth E and Jas held solid when Norwich City attacked and Phebe acquitted herself well in goal with a couple of fine finger tip saves over the bar.
Second half Hethersett continued to enjoy the lion's share of the game, despite Norwich's tough and physical approach. Rhiannon and Catherine both added to the cause with determined defending when called upon. Just reward came after 10 minutes when Ella broke through to score after her first shot was blocked 1 - 1. Beth E then went close with a superb long range free kick followed by 2 Rocky efforts and Cookie also shooting wide. Just as it looked like HAFC would take the lead, Norwich clearing off the line the yellows counter attacked and grabbed the winner 2 - 1. It was widely acknowledged on the day the best team lost, but well done to Norwich and a huge WELL DONE to our girls for a tremendous performance and great second half to the season... 9 wins and 1 narrow defeat in a Cup Final... 'Cup runners up' and 'league runners up' - you made your parents and us VERY PROUD !!
Congratulations to Rocky who, at the medals presentation, received Player of the Season which is based on the number of 'girl of the game' nominations voted for by the opposition at the end of each match.
